ImigrApp

Imigrapp is an app/ web page designed to help everyone who will travel to different countries and want to settle there, even if it’s just for a few months or move permanently.

Project duration: 04.04.2022- 12.05.2022

The problem:

People don’t always have friends or family there to help them with everything once they arrive. We should be able to start our new life regardless if we have people we know in that country or not.

The goal:

Create an app and a website that offers language lesson, legal advices, infos about education, housing and jobs available, and always updated with the latest news so people can keep up.

Responsibilities:

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iteration on designs.

My role:

UX designer designing an app  from scratch

Understanding the user

  • User research

  • Personas

  • Problem statements

  • User journey maps

User research: summary

I used interviews as my primary research and I interviewed people on-line, one of them being an expat. I was an expat at some point and I thought long and hard about what my needs were and how they were’nt met. I asked some of my close friends what would they think they needs would be if they were away from home. My assumptions were mostly correct, each of them wants to have their basic needs met, and be offered a chance to do something with their lives. And that’s where the app and website comes from.

User research: pain points

1. Not having some language courses for some basic language skills at least in the beginning.

2. People are always confused by the law and its rapid change, and it’s quite impossible to keep up with everything

3. The need to have all the info in one place, not scattered around

Usability study: findings

Round 1 findings:

- Adding an audio to the language exercise

- Having the ability to call lawyers and docs

- Adding the cv to my profile

Round 2 findings:

- Add popular topics on the forum

- Insert an option to find universities too

Refining the design

  • Mockups

  • High-fidelity prototype

Accessibility considerations

I wanted to make the app and the web flow as intuitive and easy as I could for everybody. I added big text, easy to follow buttons and commands, added a crisp contrast and I followed people’s feedback.

Going forward

  • Takeaways

  • Next steps

Impact:

The users were quite pleased with the quick flow of the website, and the app. They were able to navigate everything in a easy manner.

What I learned:

While designing this app, I learned the importance of researching the market, interviewing the people, adding my experience as an expact in order to help anyone out there to have a better life.
